Da Gama | Portuguese Taste at Century Village
Flaunting interiors and al fresco seating in shades of deep red and black, Da Gama at Century Village offers a culinary mix of Portuguese, Mexican and something in between. Certainly charming, it’s one of those places you want to sit back and relax at after a long day.
Apple Cooler + Long Island
To start off with, we ordered a couple of drinks from the Century Village drinks menu. While my plus one opted for the classic Long Island, I chose to go with the more creative apple cooler. The green apple bits along with mint and soda gave it a fizzy taste which was totally my type.
Garlic Bread
I am the happiest when restaurants put an effort into their bread basket, such that the bread basket starts to feel like a starter in itself. These were hot, crisp and super garlicky. I would have loved some cheese powder on the side, but the chilli flakes and pepper did good as accompaniments. I wouldn’t mind going back just for this.
Garlic Mushroom Salpicao
Garlic and mushroom – could there be a better combination? Despite my excitement, the dish did not really live up to my expectation. I wanted it to be more spicy, but the flavors seemed quite bland. A generous dusting of chilli flakes and pepper should make it work. Also these went quite well with the garlic bread from the basket.
Wasabi Prawns
What’s better than Wasabi? Nothing quite. I loveeee the combination of wasabi with prawns, so from the minute I saw this on the menu, I couldn’t take my mind off it. I liked that the prawns were bite sized, but it would have been great if the portion was slightly more. The wasabi had a nice kick, spicy but not too overpowering.
Da Gama Discovery
Chicken Espeteda has always been my favorite part of Portuguese cuisine, after Peri Peri of course! The chicken pieces were super succulent, beautifully marinated and grilled to perfection. The creamy side mash was just right and the mushrooms in this one were spot on. Highly recommend this for chicken lovers.
Beef Fajitas
It wouldn’t be wrong to say that these were the best beef fajitas I’ve had till date. Juicy and extremely tender steak pieces covered with cheese, peppers and jalapenos balance out just right with the soft warm tortillas. The trio of salsa, guac and sour cream is quite the flavorful one. And it is so much fun wrapping each fajita on your own.
Sizzling Brownie
Sizzling yes, but not so much brownie like, this was a little behind expectations. Eggy in taste and not as gooey as brownies should be, the chocolatey taste was missing. The vanilla ice cream though, was fab. I hope they make this better because I love sizzling brownies.

#RashidaReviews
I’m a big fan of both Portuguese and Mexican cuisines, so this place was perfect for me. I loved their beef fajitas and chicken espeteda. Wasabi prawns for starters were great, but the quantity and taste of garlic mushrooms was just ok.
