The Galliard | Address Downtown’s newest crown
The newest addition to the F&B lineup at Address Downtown, The Galliard offers Turkish-Mediterranean fusion cuisine in an upscale setting. Featuring a large open kitchen and a swanky bar, this is one of those places that has a touch of influence from the 60’s, but with modern design elements reflecting in gold and white tones. It’s one of those places where you can very well expect to find the crème de la crème of Dubai.
The combination of maroon and gold, coupled with faux trees is so effortless, you can’t help but fall in love with the interiors. What really interested me was their menu. Every item has a picture and every picture is so beautifully captured, it just shows how much thought has been put into this restaurant.
Bread Basket
We started with mixed breads served alongside olive oil and cheese. I have never really had cheese mixed in olive oil before, but since we were all set for fusion at The Galliard, I went ahead and gave it a try. Quite a good combination to be honest. The creaminess of cheese and slithery oil make for a great dip.
Cig Borek
Very crispy and extremely light, these were cleaned off in a jiffy! Originally, this dish is laden with oil (it’s supposed to be all over your hands upto your elbows when you eat it), but I obviously preferred this fusion version. I was surprised at how well the tomato and mango salsa complemented these pastries. And don’t forget to bite into those little black preserved walnut slices on top.
Piyaz Salad
A highly recommended dish for vegetarians (and meat eaters), this salad from The Galliard is a mix of everything good in one bowl. The chickpeas, mung lentils and quinoa give it a very wholesome body, while the watermelon laced with the creamy goat cheese garnish adds a touch of freshness.
As Veggie As It Gets Kitlama
Veggie couldn’t have gotten any better than this! These mini flatbreads were topped generously with a very unique, (perhaps not for the Mediterraneans) combination of mozzarella, labneh, artichokes, spinach, olives and more. The best part of this dish for me though was the absolutely creamy artichoke dip in the center.
Piruhi Truffle Tortellini
It is times like these my patience is put to test and I question myself if I really need plus ones to go for tastings with me 😋
I had to hold back my emotions and stop myself from jumping with joy at the sight of fresh truffle. Honestly, if it were up to me, I would have happily gradually devoured this pasta bit by bit, piece by piece all by myself. The combination of ricotta and spinach is one of a kind. Add to that the parmesan cream sauce and fresh truffles, and it creates something that’s truly out of this world. The only thing missing I guess was a little piece of bread that would let me mop up all that sauce. Hint: save some bread from your bread basket for this!
Duck Confit
Honestly, if you would have told me before my dinner that I’ll be eating a duck based dish and end up loving it, I would have stopped you in the first half of your sentence. But well, I defied odds and chose this duck confit, and I was thoroughly impressed right from bite one. The duck leg roasted in its own fat was so tender, it literally fell off the bone. But what added flavor to the meat was the citrus reduction. And the bed of lentils was the right side to this.
Coco Sutlac
Quite the comforting one, this coconut milk and rice based dessert comes with a refreshing garnish of summer berries and fruits.
Bombolonas
To be honest, I found these more comforting than the previous dessert. Because one word: Nutella. Very classic Italian, these little doughnuts are served alongside sweet cinnamon red wine to balance the flavors.

You’ll want to wear the dressiest outfit to this one! Perfectly posh, The Galliard boasts of a 5-star fine dining experience that offers the best of both Turkish and Italian cuisines in a fusion styled fare. My faves from the menu were Piruhi pasta, Piyaz Salad and Bobolonas.
