Right from their chaat options, some of which are served with a twist, to their variety of succulent kebabs, the never-ending list of curries and the selection of rice and biryani, Chandini Chowk is one eatery where you’ll never run out of options.

Drinks

Bringing back nostalgic memories from the small towns of India, Chandini Chowk serves the typical Banta Soda that opens up by the pop of a marble and is refreshingly tangy for these summers.

Their mocktails, like the Bora Bora and Virgin Pina Colada are inspired partly by a global appeal and make a great choice for cooling down.

Chaat Starters

Their Pani Puri is the right combination of spicy and crunchy, their Sev Puri creates a burst of sweet n spicy flavors in your mouth and their Dahi Puri cools it down with a creamy comforting bite.

What impressed me the most though, is their Papadi Pizza. Topped with tomato salsa and covered in melted cheese with a generous dusting of dried oregano, this hot chaat starter is not one to be missed.

Kebab Platter

When it comes to kebabs, one single variety is never enough. Which is why the Mixed Non-Veg Kebab Sizzler seemed like the only logical solution. Comprising of all 4 different meats, this platter came with Chicken Tikka – the classic garlicky, spicy, tandoori tikkas; Mutton Seekh Kebab – grilled skewered minced mutton mixed with onions and spices; Fish Tikka – marinated in spicy hot masalas and yoghurt; and Tandoori Prawns – juicy pieces covered in Tandoori spices.

The Mutton Seekh Kebab and Prawns were my favorite from the lot. The chicken could have been more tender. As for the fish, I would have preferred it laden with more Amritsari spices because I could taste the fishy taste in these tikkas which I am not really a fan of.

Mains

The mains at Chandini Chowk were another mix of something from everything. We opted for their classic Chicken Biryani which was such a delight. The chicken pieces were tender and juicy and the spicy marinade in which the rice and meat was cooked was done so well, it really brought back memories from the motherland.

Chicken Kasturi gravy cooked in a rich mix of kastoori methi and onions was my next favorite. Bhuna mutton, in its ginger-garlic, onion, tomato and capsicum gravy was quite flavorful too, but I would have rather the mutton was minced than cubed. Both these gravies went great with their mixed basket of tandoori rotis and naan.

The Yellow Dal Tadka was my ultimate favorite. Even though I could only have a couple of spoons at the restaurant, I got it packed and devoured it the next day with some homemade jeera rice. And well, if I had to describe the dal in one word, it would be brilliant!

Dessert

By now we were stuffed up to our necks, but Chandini Chowk manager Deepak made sure we don’t leave without something sweet. He got us their bestselling Gulab Jamun with Ice Cream. Although I am not too much into gulab jamuns, the little warm fluffy balls were perfectly dense in texture and made a great accompaniment to the chilled vanilla ice cream.

Don’t go for the ambience, but go for the food. Their menu is a little overwhelming (read: very long), but if you know what you’re craving for, it shouldn’t be too bad. Plus no one’s stopping you from having a few more dishes while you’re there!
My favorites at Chandini Chowk included the Banta Soda that opens up by the pop of a marble and is refreshingly tangy for these summers. Their Pani Puri and Sev Puri Chaat are worth a try and the Pizza Papadi is a complete must have! The hicken biryani and yellow dal.
