Italian elegance in the plush Palm | Quattro Passi
Certain places possess such exquisite appeal, they make you want to keep coming back again and again. Such is Five Palm Jumeirah. Last weekend we drove back to this gorgeous property to try out some stylish Italian fare at Quattro Passi.
We opted for a customized chef’s menu and it was a very pretty looking set of 5 courses plus dessert. Read on for my take on everything we tried.
Breaded Sweet Prawns
The breaded sweet prawns in seafood bisque were quite crispy and balanced well with potato mash on the side. I don’t really like the smell of seafood soup and would have preferred the prawns placed in a milder broth. The prawns on their own were quite a treat though.
Fried Zucchini with Provolone
The fried zucchini with provolone cheese was our favorite. Crispy tempura fried and stuffed with stretchy cheese inside, this starter was served along with zucchini flowers in a base of lovely melted cheese goodness.
Corn fed Baby Chicken
The corn fed baby chicken was perfect. Juicy, tender and savory, it did well with the mushroom mousse and chicken jus on the side. Definitely worth a try for chicken lovers.
Ravioli Fumé
The Ravioli Fumé was another one of my favorites. Filled with smoked buffalo mozzarella, this pasta was covered in a pulpy tomato sauce which made it absolutely flavorful. I would have preferred the ravioli a little more well done.
Sweet Prawns Risotto
The Sweet Prawns Risotto was a little mixed bag for me. The smell was too fishy and the prawns slightly raw, which did not make a very good combination for my palette. I think I do well only with mushroom based risotto, so maybe next time I won’t experiment.
Mixed Desserts
The desserts were a surprise. The mixed platter had our favorite tiramisu as the highlight, along with meringue, macarons and cream filled bread.
The lemon tart brought in a very refreshing tangy flavor thanks to all those fresh lemon bits.
And the raspberry panacotta was smooth like velvet.

Quattro Passi is a brilliant Italian restaurant in terms of location and interiors. It is beautifully designed, perfect for a romantic date night or an intimate family gathering. While most of their dishes are quite good, I didn’t like a lot of the seafood there, especially because I am not a fan of that fishy smell. Try out their pasta variety though, they seems really good. And the desserts are quite delicious too. Moreover, if you are a seafood lover, this is heaven for you.
