Bringing the flavors of Istanbul to Dubai, Turkish Doner House in JLT takes authentic up a notch with their succulent meats and homemade breads. Located in a quiet cluster O of Jumeirah Lake Towers at the promenade level, this Turkish eatery offers casual dining that highlights the street favorites of Istanbul in a very chic setting.
This Chicken Tombik, their signature Turkish sandwich, features thinly sliced marinated chicken along with lettuce, tomatoes, onions and a special garlic yogurt herb sauce packed between their home baked bread. The chicken is tender and juicy, and the veggies oh-so-fresh. And let’s not forget the warm and soft bread that’s so comforting, it would be perfect to have as is with a garlic based dip or tea. Also available with beef, the Tombik is a must try in this JLT casual dine eatery.
Another signature at the Turkish Doner House, and a classic from Turkish cuisine, the Iskendar Kebab features slow cooked, marinated and thinly sliced succulent beef, that’s infused with the tomato based Iskendar sauce and served hot over fresh homemade pita bread with a side of creamy yogurt and a spicy green chili on top.
This classic truly lives up to its status and offers a Turkish delight, albeit a savory one!
Definitely a must have and totally recommended, this dish is good for one if you’re not sharing. But I would suggest take a few friends or family along so you can order a variety off their menu and experience it all.
The delectable Doner is skillfully sliced, a secret known only to the authentic Turkish chefs. The meat is stacked up on the rotisserie in a squared style, unlike the common spherical one you usually see. This design helps the meat cook evenly and to tender perfection. Opposed to electric dry heat, the flame allows the juices and marinade to perfectly combine giving the meat an absolutely flavorful finish. Try a few slices of this chicken or beef Doner as is, and you’ll see the difference.
A Turkish meal is never complete without this aromatic brew at the end. The Turkish tea at Turkish Doner House or Cay as it is popularly known features a strong bittersweet taste that’s sure to lift you up. It’s fragrance mesmerizes the senses and every sip magically takes you to the wonderful Ottoman land of delectable cuisine.
You can add sugar if you like it a little sweet like I do.
