Chilled out nightlife vibes at Blue Bar
Get your spirits high at Blue Bar! One of the oldest places in the city (almost 14 years old), this hole in the wall is perfect for those looking for a quiet-ish evening with drinks and live music. Frequented by the corporate crowd, especially during exhibitions and events season at the next door World Trade Center and adjoining Zabeel Halls, Blue Bar serves up what I believe is one of the most extensive drinks menu, listed with different cocktails, some refreshing mocktails and juices, along with a variety of bar bites, finger food, mains and more.
Pictured here is their creative bartender Shankar, who mixed up some really good concoctions for us. Read on for more about the food, drinks and pictures.
Drinks
What’s your poison? Blue Bar really impresses with its extensive list of cocktails, and the drinks are quite the show stoppers. Here are some of Shankar’s concoctions.
Hello Dolly
Thrill is Gone
Mai Tai
Caipirinha
Daiquiri
Between the Sheets
Which one’s your favorite?
Live Music
Blue Bar entertains its guests with different forms of live music on 4 out of 7 days of the week leading up to the weekend. During our visit, it was jazz night which was made livelier by these wonderful souls.
Sharing Platter
Believe it or not, this was the best part of my night out at Blue Bar. To start with, I love finger food. And they got me a whole selection of these. My custom sharing platter came with four of their best-selling starters.
The chicken croquettes fried crispy with tender chicken mince inside were my favorite.
These were followed by the crunchy cheese balls oozing with melt-in-your-mouth cheese.
The onion rings were quite good too, and thankfully not at all soggy.
The calamari was a bit chewy, which is the main reason I never prefer ordering these as my starters. I would have rather swapped it with another bestseller on their menu – popcorn shrimp – which looked quite promising.
These starters came with a sweet chili and sour cream dip.
BB Burger
Don’t you just want to bite into that burger? The BB Burger at Blue Bar was decked up with slow cooked beef ribs, turkey ham and grilled onions, all dressed in chef’s special sauce, and packed between two sesame buns.
Every bite brought forth a combination of contrasting flavors and textures to our palate, making the process of eating this burger such an experience! A portion of side salad and fries made for the perfect accompaniments.

Overall
Blue Bar is perfect for a relaxed night out with an intimate group of friends. If you’re staying or working on an exhibition at the nearby World Trade Centre halls, it makes a great choice for a co-worker catch-up after a long day.
