Status Kitchen – a stylish take away joint
Serving quick food that’s extremely delicious, made with high quality ingredients, and highly affordable, this sneakily located cafe in Mirdif has become the talk of the town. In less than two months of its opening, Status Kitchen has gotten so famous, you’ll see cars lining up outside every evening, be it a weekend or a weekday.
But don’t expect to have a sit down meal in here. Their entire cafe is divided into a large kitchen and a juice & desserts section, with only 3 stool seats and a mini wall stuck table, just in case an occasional guest wants to pop in for some presentation and pictures.
Pina Colada
There’s obviously nothing more Instagrammable than a pina colada that’s served inside a pineapple! But this is just one of the many Insta-worthy dishes at this hep new take away joint.
Although there isn’t much place to sit inside, I still went ahead and squeezed onto one of their chairs. Because honestly, who wouldn’t want to see a pineapple top being chopped off, it’s fruit removed and juiced in the blender right in front of you, and then poured into the same pineapple shell with some pretty garnishing. I definitely do!

Dynamite Chicken
Love the dynamite sauce but not a fan of shrimps? Worry not, for Status Kitchen has got you covered with their Dynamite Chicken. Coated generously in a brilliantly spicy and creamy dynamite dressing, these crunchy chicken pieces pack a punch in every single bite.
Oh but they haven’t ignored the classics. There’s dynamite shrimps on their menu as well, and even though we didn’t try that, I’m pretty sure it’s equally finger licking delicious. These are what odd time cravings are made up of.

Black Oreo Milkshake
Status Kitchen is quite famous for its black stuff – burger buns, milkshakes, cakes & pancakes – and this one was a treat. Filled with black ink chocolate flavored milk, this Oreo milkshake was crusted with chocolate crumbs and topped with whipped grey frosting. The frosting is similar to what you would find on cakes. Plus there were Oreo cookie pieces and more chocolate drizzle on top to complete that ‘fully loaded’ look and feel.
It’s creamy and chocolatey and all, but the only downside is, it adds a black tint to your tongue and teeth for a bit.
But wait, here’s the exciting part!
Although I was there for a tasting, even if you walk in as a regular customer, this is exactly how you would get this milkshake served – in a mason jar. But how would that work for a takeaway cafe, you ask? Well, that’s their thing.
They got the “takeaway” concept working too seriously. Which means you can literally take the glass away with you. And you don’t have to come back the next day to return it. It is yours to keep! So get there and load up on those milkshakes (and glasses!)

Pistachio Pancakes
Pistachio has recently gained a lot of fame as a versatile ingredient that can go beyond just ice creams and dry fruit based desserts. So falling in line with Status Kitchen’s creative offerings, these Pistachio pancakes were quite the bomb. Stacked one on top of the other, layering sweet cream cheese in between, these Pistachio pancakes were finished with pistachio sauce, crushed nuts and crunchy toasted kunafa strands.
My rating: ★★★½
Black Pancakes
However, I must confess here, I’m not a very big pistachio fan. Yes, these were fab, but I fell absolutely head over heels in love with the Black pancakes. Similarly layered, this pancakes trio had everything I admire. Perfectly garnished and drizzled with crushed hazelnuts, Nutella and Belgium chocolate, these were hard to share with my chocolate craving pregnant friend.
IMHO, even if you like Nutella 1%, make sure you don’t leave Status Kitchen without trying these out.
My rating: ★★★★★
But this is not the only variety. If you’re into the red velvet craze, they also make regular and mini pancakes in that flavor, topped with creamy goodness.
