Indian brunching at Patiala
Patiala in Souk Al Bahar has come up with an all-new brunch menu, and being hard core fans of this Indian fine dining spot, we couldn’t miss a chance to try out the magnanimous spread.
The food offering at Patiala combines some of their favorites with some smart new dishes. So expect to find a dahi papri along with spicy lotus root chaat, and the line up of Indian basics done just perfect in the form of biryani, butter chicken, dal makhni, paneer kadai and more. Wait, there’s also the classic tikkas and kebabs, as well as the contemporary wasabi methi and caramelized onions with blue cheese naan.
This means you can be sure you’ll get the best of both traditional and modern palates in one amazing afternoon.
Drinks
Where the food doesn’t fail to impress one bit, it’s the drinks menu that had us in all smiles. Ever heard of a Kala Khatta Collins, or a Paan Slush, or a Gol Gappa Margarita maybe? You’ll find all those in here along with classic grape and malt beverages.
Here are three unmissable drinks from the Friday brunch at Patiala. With unique names, and even more unique combinations, these take the concept of cocktails to a new high (pun intended). Pictured in this album: Gol Gappa Margarita, Paan Slush & Rau Punjab Di. With lovely colors, and presentation on point, these will definitely get repeated orders.
Tip: Ask for the Gol Gappa Margarita to be served a little sweeter (probably with imli chutney?!) Which one would you order?
Starters
It’s quite a treat to eat chaat in Souk Al Bahar. I mean, who could possibly imagine a fine dine Indian restaurant serving up Dahi Papri. But the brunch at Patiala says otherwise. It’s not just the Dahi Papri that fascinates though. Although I loved every bit of it, till the last particle on the plate, I confess I’m slightly biased towards the Chilli Nadhru Chaat.
OMG, never had I ever imagined that lotus stem could be conceptualized as something so spectacular. A little like a Chinese stir fry, this chaat came with whole green chillies (my favorite!) and colorful peppers all decked up with yogurt drizzles on top. This is a must must try!

Main course
Where on one hand the appetizers get all set to tickle your taste buds with their meaty deliciousness, the mains fascinate you by their sheer generosity of portion sizes. Since we opted for the non-veg menu, we were treated to a wonderful kebab and tikka platter. My favorites from this were the lamb galouti kebab and Amritsari fish tikka.
For the mains, they made sure to combine all the basics of Indian cuisine, and did it just perfect. My love for biryani got even stronger after devouring their version of this epic dish, while the dal makhni impressed with its buttery creamy mix. Don’t forget to try out their caramelized onion with blue cheese, and wasabi methi naan with gravy dishes like paneer kadai, butter chicken and kheema!
Dessert
Ending it on a sweet note, they serve a selection of mango lassi ice cream with rose petal halwa and apricot kheer.
This brunch is priced at just AED 279 for TWO people. If you’re sticking to the sober stuff, you can still enjoy all that food with virgin mocktails at AED 179 for TWO people. But hurry, these 2 for 1 prices are not for long. Call up Patiala and get your Friday brunching sorted now!
A very big thanks to Bhairavi Prakash and Rohit Bharati for being the best and most fun hosts ever!
