Read on to find out what I tried at Bait Al Mandi.
Mixed Grills
Arabic cuisine never fails to impress. Especially mixed grills.
First of all they combine a variety of kebabs from different meats, grilled to succulent perfection. They there’s the grilled onions and peppers with parsley salad. And there there are fries. And don’t miss that creamy hummus and warm bread on the side along with a spicy tomato dip.
What’s not to love about mixed grills!
This was the sumptuous mixed grill platter at Bait Al Mandi which features one skewer of each – shish tawook, shish kebab, chicken kebab, and meat kebab.
These were not only perfectly grilled, but also made fresh to order.
Spicy Chicken Mazbi
Mandi. That’s the word.
If you haven’t tried this Yemeni staple yet, you really need to get out there and walk into the first Bait Al Mandi you notice in your area. Check out their seven locations on www.zomato.com. There’s surely one near to you. Bait Al Mandi also delivers, which means you can get your Mandi cravings met even for lunch at work or a weekend family dinner at home!
Coming back to this dish, this one is the Spicy Chicken Mazbi. Although they are categorized under Mandi, these dishes differ on the basis of how the meat is prepared. There’s the oven baked Mandi, the charcoal grilled Mazbi and the pit cooked Madfoon. All three of them are served over a bed of fragrant rice, often infused with spices.
Moreover, the classic accompaniments of any Mandi dish include a spicy tomato sauce, which is very similar to a salsa dip, a pack of yogurt and some fresh leaves, carrots, cucumbers and lemons. Occasionally you will also find a clear soup, but Bait Al Mandi’s version came with a spicy green dip. The best way to eat this would be slicing off a little meat off the chicken, adding the spicy sauce over the chicken and rice along with some yogurt, and then eating all in one bite. Yum, no?
Vegetarians, don’t despair. They have a lovely mushroom soup on the menu which is great for starters. Then there’s the hummus for sides. And you can always ask for the rice sans any meat and still enjoy it with the spicy tomato sauce and the all the other accompaniments.
Get your Mandi fix at Bait Al Mandi. And you’re welcome 🙂
