Farzi Cafe just got Farzified!

Last night marked the launch of a brand new and interestingly farzified menu at the Farzi cafe.
Adhering to their Parsi roots, their new menu sheds a new light on most things mutton and beef, giving every dish a farzified twist. So there’s definitely a lot for meat lovers to rejoice!

When our host for the night, Mari, told us about the drink presented in the fridge, I knew I had to order it.
Titled Bootlegger, it’s not named so for its reference to an alcohol smuggler, but more for the secrecy involved in its ingredients.

The Bootlegger. Get it?
This is how this mysterious drink is actually served.
Well, Farzi cafe is doing what they do best – Presenting the literal meaning of the drink with a farzified twist!

Combining muddled cucumber with pomegranate seeds, a dash of spicy cumin and the aromatic lemongrass, this drink is served amidst a smoky dry ice presentation, adding all that mystery. But it’s not just the lemongrass that lends its aroma to this special drink. You can actually take in the beautiful fragrance of cucumber seeds in all that smoke which works at tingling your olfactory senses even before you have taken in a sip, or for that matter, seen how this mocktail is presented.

Feeling a little blue? Why not try the Berry Blues off Farzi cafe’s new menu?
This refreshing drink combines muddled berries and lemon juice and is served in a spice box-esque crate alongside a berry skewer with caramelized orange and berries in a box.
Totally recommended, although I would have loved some theatrical dry ice smoke with this too.

These Chili Beef Spiked Kulchas come with a delicious keema filling. It’s like something out of an authentic Pakistani restaurant. Accompanied with a red pepper coulis and jalapeno sauce splashed artistically on the wooden board, these Kulchas are spiked not only in terms of their spicy taste but also their presentation.
Tender, hot and the perfect mix of crunchy outside and mushy inner, these new tapas offerings should definitely be on your list when you visit Farzi cafe.

My first reaction to this dish was “Wow, that’s an Indian flag!”. But well, that’s the magic red pepper coulis and jalapeno sauce can add to your palate.
This one’s called Braised Mutton Bunny Chow. What’s that you ask? Well, it’s braised mutton in a bun that you chow on! Only, the mutton is absolutely tender, the bun too soft and the sauces, a perfectly spicy side to the meat.
And let’s applaud the presentation too, it does take a lot of creativity to bring out that beauty.

These Soya Masala Nuggets are similar to the Braised Mutton Bunny Chow, except the meat is replaced with tender soya nuggets. The perfect farzified alternative for vegetarians.

Never had I thought I would fall in love with a yakhni pilaf. And this is not just any regular yakhni, it’s a Chicken Nugget Yakhni Nut Pilaf.
Dotted with pomegranate seeds, cashews, walnuts, these creamy rice morsels are melt-in-the-mouth. From the lamb shawarma biryani and the lemon rice to this yakhni pilaf, Farzi cafe definitely knows how to hit the rice spot. I am going back for this.

This Apple Matchstick drink is a sweet concoction prepared with the basics of apple cinnamon and lemongrass.
But lo and behold, the fiery presentation, caramelizing those pretty green apple bites right on your table.

I’m a fan of soups. Just look at how comforting and warm these blends are. The classic Chicken Mulligatawny soup gets a farzified twist with apple and coconut infusions. Plus, this chicken lentil soup is spiced with masala lavash and topped with a crispy black gram chaat. Must have!

Revamping the South Indian favorite with their farzified twist, Farzi cafe brings together an absolutely crispy and soft Scallion Masala Uttapam with a generous typing of Beef Pepper Fry in this main course offering.
Now I’m not a very big fan of cubed beef, so I would have preferred the braised or minced version of this meat, but the uttapam was to die for.
I wish they would serve this with a Paneer based gravy. Which also brings me to the point that there was no vegetarian main course on the new menu. Why Farzi, why?

Since we have already established how mutton and beef centric Farzi’s new menu is, here was one more beef focused main – Tenderloin Medallion. Served over mustard tempered Aloo Chokha (just like how mom made it), cream of spinach and fried lake on a clay plate, it combined the best of earthy hues.
Beef was medium well and quite tender, but I loved the potatoes. Again, it would be great if they could add a vegetarian main course to their menu incorporating the Aloo Chokha.

There couldn’t be any dirt pile tastier than this. This one is to die for.

Aptly titled the Dirt Pile, this dessert is a mix of sorts. Starting with chocolate cake soil dotted with fruits, berries and nuts, as well as cacao powder coated truffle, it is accompanied by a scoop of vanilla topped with coffee sauce.
The pile then welcomes a drizzle of chocolate sauce that just puts it all together in a way so tempting, I couldn’t stop eating this even though my guest kept telling me to think about my waistline (and me ignoring my waistline is a big thing).
I must admit, this reminded me a lot of the Deconstructed black forest at Tresind, but Farzi’s dirt pile was just so crumbly, so cakey, so creamy and so so chocolatey, you cannot, CANNOT stop eating this.
Friendly tip: if you want to finish it all, don’t eat up before, or else share it with atleast two other people. Latter recommended.

Farzi has introduced a new peppy drink called Popcorn Coke Masala, that combines Coca Cola with creme chat masala in a bubbly drink. Placed in a wooden box with dry ice, it is served alongside a petite popcorn serving.

Go and try out Farzi’s new menu and combine it with their signature dishes for a complete Farzified experience!
