Xenia | Modern Levant Cuisine at Springs Souk

A gorgeous fusion of modern Levant and international cuisines, Xenia located in Springs Souk flaunts interiors that give you the feels of a completely different city. The pastel hues, antique pieces and faux trees add a whole different lively factor. And don’t miss their cloud ceiling that can be brightened up to create a daylight ambiance even late in the evening.

Drinks

Xenia offers a lovely selection of mocktails, hot drinks, cold drinks, juices and shakes which are quite difficult to resist. So despite the cold weather, we chose two of these cooling drinks – Jamaica and Passion Fruit Mojito. While the latter was a classic blend of passion fruit, lemon and mint, the former was a delightfully presented mix of orange, pineapple, lemon and passion fruit juices.

Cappuccino Mushroom

Creamy and frothy, this one’s a must have if you love mushrooms. Made with wild mushrooms paired with thyme, garlic, fresh cream and espresso, it makes for a comfortingly warm drink. The gritty texture perfectly makes each mouthful worth it. A few more whole mushroom pieces would’ve been great. The garlic bread on the side was the right carby accompaniment.

Shrimp Kunafa

With a super crispy kunafa dough coating and a crunchy inside, these shrimps are quite the ideal munchies. I loved how each piece was dipped in one of two sauces that made it quite an individual yet shareable dish.

Peri Peri Shrimp Fukhara

We got a little carried away with the shrimp variety at Xenia. This shrimp curry was just pure bliss. Cooked in a coconut milk based gravy and flavored with garlic, cayenne pepper, chipotle, lemon zest and sweet chili, it was the right balance between sweet and spicy. The warm bread on the side made a great choice for dipping.

Kofta Tomato Bel Senyeh

Highly recommended by the staff, this kofta dish was quite rich in terms of flavor as well as texture. The lamb mince kofta baked along with potatoes in a hearty tomato sauce balanced out just right with the dry fruit rice.

#RashidaReviews

Such a gorgeous place, Xenia is worth the drive to Springs even if you live far away from it. The interiors are not only welcoming, but they kind of lift your mood. I loved the Mushroom Cappuccino and the shrimp dishes at this restaurant. The Shrimp Fukhara was my favorite. Hopefully next time I’ll have enough place for dessert as well!
