Mercato Centrale | Bur Juman

Italian food truly makes the world a better place. Don’t you agree? Which is why every time I get a chance to experience authentic Italian fare, I find it hard to say no. This time, after a long break post my surgery, I got invited to review Mercato Centrale at Bur Juman. I’ve been to the DIFC outlet of this restaurant before and I loved the food there, so it was natural my love would follow here too. We took some time trying to find the place, but when we got there, we realized it is located right next to the entrance to JYSK in the mall.

Offering a cozy, wintery vibe, the restaurant is fitted with olive green and wooden accented interiors that instantly made me want to come back during the winters. The chef and the staff at Mercato Centrale were very welcoming and had set up a table for us to indulge way before we got there.

Once we were seated, sanitized our hands and got rid of our ninja looks, we were offered drinks to start with. I went with a classic fresh watermelon juice and my plus one chose a mixed berry smoothie. Soon after, we were offered the amuse bouche – a Spinach Cannelloni followed by our set of starters and mains that included a Ravioli Burrata, Greek Salad, Cappelacci Genovese, Hunter Panzarotti and a 30 cm mixed topping pizza. Out of the 4 toppings – Cheese, Sicilian, Diavola and Complete, the Sicilian one was my fav. For desserts, we were surprised with an incredible varied dessert platter (the coconut ball was the best), and since we were at an Italian restaurant, we knew we had to leave some space for a Tiramisu too. We ended the dinner with a Latte Macchiato, promising ourselves to be back there soon.
