BOHO | Studio One
I had worked in Studio City for a very short time a very long time ago, and based on how lovely the locality is, I always hoped they would come up with a place within the vicinity where people could hang out after work and simply celebrate life. After my visit to Studio One, I felt content that my wish had come true. This chic hotel has a very carnval-esque restaurant arena, housing about 5 different restaurants, which really give you the feels of a festival or celebration going on. One such place is Boho.
Displaying a Bohemian approach in the look and feel of the restaurant as well as in their food, Boho offers a truly contemporary set of food and drinks that focuses on variety and flavor. Bringing together creative gems from different cuisines, the restaurant infuses different ingredients, experiments with contrasting flavors and keeps the final taste on a high pedestal.
Since we were invited for a review, our meal consisted of a set menu with a rather generous number of dishes divided into small bites, grills, curries and desserts.
Our small bites started with a trio of goat cheese salad, eggplant dip & chips, and fish-on-a-chip. The creamy goat cheese salad, enhanced with beetroot, walnuts, mixed leaves and finished with balsamic was an explosion of wholesome flavors. I really loved this one for its freshness and combination of ingredients. The fried eggplant chips served with a barbecued eggplant dip (like a baingan bharta) was another favorite. A great choice for vegetarians and meatarians alike, this would definitely make you want to go for a repeat order. The battered hammour fillets served on crunchy chips was very innovative in terms of presentation, but I didn’t quite like the fishy smell from it. I didn’t have a second piece, but my plus one really liked it.
Mix grill platter was next, and this was portioned generously with different meats. My plus one was in awe of their signature marinated lamb chops, while I devoured the charcoal cooked semi-spicy atomic prawns. Needless to say, the authentic Turkish styled Adana kebab was my favorite. The flame grilled minced beef marinated in Boho’s secret spices and served alongside a sumac infused salad took me back to the streets of Turkey where I couldn’t stop eating these. The Bihari spiced chicken tikka featuring tender morsels of slow cooked chicken were great too, especially since they almost melted in our mouths.
After the grills, it was time for our curry platter. Bringing together some of the best curries, this one had me happy with the tasting portions which allowed me to sample everything without feeling too full. Named comfort chicken, and rightly so, Boho’s take on the classic butter chicken makes it their bestseller. The succulent boneless chunks of chicken slathered in their signature tomato and cashew gravy with a touch of cream, spoke volumes of their attention to detail. I loved this with the side of naan. Another curry which went great with naan as well as rice was the Boho meat pot. Not your usual gosht gravy, this one was a mish mash of lentils and potatoes that complemented the slow cooked meat. And of course, there was the dal makhani which truly completed the meal. This lentil stew paired with a tomato onion gravy is cooked overnight in tandoor that brings out an incredibly creamy taste. A must have with rice.
We had our take on two of their desserts too, starting with my ultimate favorite trio milk cake. Decked with coconut chips and contrasting berries to balance out the silky sweetness with a crunch and sour kick, this moist and fluffy piece of cloud is something you will not want to share. Be sure to order one for each member of your party. A rather innovative tiramisu was next on our table. Featuring a chocolate ball that was crushed to reveal a creamy tiramisu mousse inside, this was a beautiful melange of coffee, cream and chocolate flavors.

Without a doubt, my favorite from everything we tried was their Trio Milk Cake, but I also highly recommend their Goat Cheese Salad, Chips with Eggplant dip and Comfort Chicken with rice. Definitely going back for the chilled out vibes and the incredible menu.
