Ketch Up | Bluewaters Dubai
What does “ketch up” mean to you? Is it a wordplay on the term catch-up (i.e. a great place to ketch up), or does it refer to tomato ketchup (i.e. I’ll have my fries with ketch up). Whatever you might believe, for me Ketch Up is one of the coolest spots to dine and drink at Bluewaters Dubai. Serving up Tex-Mex favorites, this swanky G+1 restaurant offers great views of the marina and makes for an ideal after work, late night or weekend scene. Ketch Up also has some amazing deals for their happy hours and with the view they offer, that one’s hard to say no to.
During our midweek dinner, we started with their bestselling guacamole with nacho chips and chicken quesadillas for starers. The guac was prepared live at the table in a giant stone mortar and pestle, and it tasted so good. The quesadillas were fair, but I didn’t quite like the taste of the chicken on its own and had to douse it in the jalapeno sauce on the side in order to mask the blandness. For the next course, we tried one of their signature burgers – Ketch Up burger that stacked with a large beef patty, their special sauce, and all those crunchy and creamy burger toppings. I loved the portion of this one. Along with the indulgent burger, we also tried the light and healthy shrimp bowl that featured mixed rice as a base along with avocado, mangoes, grilled veggies and more. The bowl was super filling and very wholesome – a great choice for those who want to eat something less guilty. But since we hardly ever think about guilt, we upped our mains with a side of fiery fries. Loaded with cheesy sauce and jalapenos, these were such good starchy accompaniments to the carbs. My next time choice for fries would definitely be the truffle ones. To be very honest, desserts were not really on the cards, but the staff insisted we try their caramel ice cream cake, and so we did. Along with that, we also ordered a tall Oreo shake which came in a monster size. The milkshake was great – both in terms of taste as well as presentation, however if I had to choose dessert, I would go with something different next time instead of the ice cream cake.

Don’t forget to try their guac, tall shakes, and you better be prepared to have to pick from their endless variety of burgers and sliders. The portions are huge and the service impeccable. I want to go back for their happy hours and try out the multiple slider options they’ve got.
