Brunch at Matto | The Oberoi
The word brunch brings forth all sorts of happy feels for me. And if the brunch is at some place gorgeous, then it’s undoubtedly an icing on the cake. Thank God for MATTO. Their Via Del Matto Brunch combines carbs and cocktails in a crazy Italian atmosphere making the Friday totally worth it. Very reminiscent of Italian streets, the 4 hour sit-down brunch comes in 3 sizes starting from AED 180 and the highlights include the starters sharing board, unlimited mini pizzas and fancy drinks. The brunch has a DJ playing the best tracks which fills up the air with a celebratory ambiance. Add to that their friendly and talented staff, who go out of their way to make your experience a memorable one.
We started our brunch with a couple of Aperol spritzers and paired it with the sharing starters. The board came with bresaola, bread sticks, quinoa shrimp, tomato bruschetta, caprese salad, grilled vegetables, lentil salad, mixed tomatoes and a cheese platter. We liked a few and loved a few, and thanks to the unlimited offer, we chose to re-order our faves which included the caprese, bruschetta , veggies and bread. Meanwhile it was time to try out the other drinks on offer and I chose a pomegranate bellini. Spacing out between dishes and giving enough time for our food to settle in, we decided to go for the mini pizzas – and we thought well they are mini, so instead of choosing a flavor or two, why not go with all five? And to our surprise, the not-so-mini pizzas arrived. The size of a small pizza that can easily fill up two people (along with all the other food), we had to really plan our pizza round in a way that we can try out each flavor, but also leave enough space for the mains and desserts. From the variety of margherita, tartufo, vegetariana, parmigiana, and diavola, without a doubt, the truffle one was my ultimate fav. In fact that’s the only one which I managed to eat more than one slice of. For mains, we went with beef tagliata and risotto porcini. I’ve always had a soft spot for mushroom based risottos, but the beef was so good, I honestly felt we should’ve ordered two portions of the tagliata! Finally it was time for desserts, and although we were obviously pretty full, we tried the tiramisu, creme brulee, pana cotta and Italian cake. The creme brulee with the berry top layer was really yum, and the tiramisu was pretty good too.
