Gioia | Fairmont Ajman
Our day-cation experience at Fairmont Ajman ended with a relaxing yet delicious dinner. We had to choose between Turkish and Italian, and we went with the latter – Gioia. A fine dine Italian restaurant located at the ground level of Fairmont Ajman, Gioia specializes in a large selection of home made organic pasta and a unique open kitchen setting.
After being welcomed by friendly staff who were well expecting us and made the experience personalized by addressing me by name, we were asked to choose our preferred table and were offered to look at the menus.
As always, we opted for almost everything the staff recommended, and while we were waiting for our food, we were offered a bread basket served alongside a porcini mushroom cream pate and a selection of olive oil, balsamic vinegar and chili infused olive oil.
Our drinks – a pair of homemade mocktails – came right after the bread Mine was passion fruit based, while my plus one opted for orange. To be honest both looked very similar, but the former was slightly sweeter than the latter.
For our soup course we shared a portion of Minestrone soup that was served with some pesto on the side. I especially loved its presentation. Moreover the warm soup was really comforting and the addition of pesto only made it better.
Buffala Caprese came in next and this one was a stunner. Not only was the mozzarella really fresh and creamy, but it also perfectly matched its fresh salad counterparts – rocket and tomatoes. I did miss my usual burrata though.
Next it was time for pasta. A true showstopper, the Ravioli at Gioia is a must try. Filled with braised beef short ribs, the pasta was tossed in a creamy truffle infused mushroom ragout sauce. Don’t judge me, but I licked the sauce clean before giving back the plate.
The Capricciosa pizza was nothing less of incredible. So many toppings including the likes of beef pepperoni, Turkey ham olives, tomatoes and more, spread evenly on a thin crust base made this really light and palatable.
Finally it was time to choose between Tiramisu or Fondant and we chose the latter. I loved loved loved the texture of the chocolate fondant and was really impressed with the vanilla gelato, berries and passion fruit gel accents.

I really loved the selection of pasta at Gioia. I would definitely go back to try more of their pasta, and probably just ask them to tailor make a mushroom cream and truffle pasta for me. The pizza was quite good, and I loved the minestrone soup with pesto.
