QD’s | New Menu Launch
You might have often heard of QD’s as one of the best licensed outdoor spots in Dubai offering a view of the creek along with good food, drinks and sheesha. Although QD’s has been around for quite long (since I was in school), I had never got a chance to visit this highly famed restaurant until this day, thanks to their new menu launch. The place is gorgeous! It offers a lovely outdoor terrace overlooking the creek and is perfect for these cooler months when al fresco is the only thing we want to do.
Located inside the Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club, this happening spot has added a host of new items to their selection which are fab to say the least. Marked as “New” across the different sections of the menu, these include a variety of salads, grills, seafood and more. Scroll down to read about the different new items we sampled and which ones we loved the most.
Mocktails
We started with two of their new drinks – Creek Delight and Butter Crunch. While the former was a sweet mixture of melon, apple and strawberry, the latter was a milkshake styled drink with caramel syrup, fresh cream, fresh milk and honeycomb for that added crunch. Surprisingly, I liked the butter crunch more, simply because of its simple yet stylish ingredients.
Arabic Sampler
First up on our appetizers was the Arabic Sampler. It was quite unarguably everything you love in Mediterranean Mezze on one plate. Right from falafel and fresh pita bread combined with hummus to baba ganoush, olives, pickles and zatar bread, this could easily become a crowd favorite with its variety. I would however order the falafel and pita pockets next time from their menu. Would be a great choice for bites with drinks or sheesha.
Quinoa Fattoush
So many varieties of fattoush, so little time! This healthier version of the signature Arabic salad had all the works – cucumber, tomato, red onion and pomegranate dressing, but what was more interesting was the trio of quinoa used as a base and the crispy hummus bites on the side.
Crispy Fried Chicken Strips
Aren’t these on literally everybody’s favorites list? The perfect go-to, hassle free item, these chicken strips serve multiple purposed. They can be eaten as an appetizer, as finger food with drinks, as a main if you’re not sharing, and so much more. Tender just as I like them, these were served with a drizzle of chili coriander lime yogurt dip which took the flavor up a notch.
Dynamite Shrimps
Whoever doesn’t love these babies either hasn’t tried them yet or else is vegetarian. Because everytime I eat dynamite shrimps, regardless of where and when, I simply fall in love with them. These were served with an Asian slaw and spicy mayo. Tip: Don’t share these!
Lemon & Oregano Chicken Skewer
To start with our mains, we were offered this shish-taouk-esque chicken skewer which had tender morsels of chicken thigh marinated with lemon and oregano. Quite flavorful, I’d love to have these in a wrap.
QD’s Meat Mixed Grill
A meat lover’s haven, this mixed grill came with the best of the best – lamb kofta, shish taouk, lamb chops and beef kebab. My favorite among these were the koftas. Also I loved dunking them in the duo of garlic and salsa dips!
Tandoori Chicken Tikka
Oh my my! What could get better than this, right? The classic presentation and classic flavors of Indian tandoori marination is what makes this dish a big big hit. Honestly, I would go back for these (along with the dynamite shrimps of course). Don’t forget to dip them in the chutney.
Seafood Mixed Grill Platter
While I am not a fan of fish, I was just happy with the second round of prawns in this dish. The Harissa grilled prawns were perfection, while the marinated hammour, grilled salmon and sea bream, I’m told, were not bad either. All said and done, it was the lemon butter sauce that was the star of this dish for me.
Fruit Platter
What’s better to end your meal than with a tray full of fresh fruits? This one features seasonal sliced fruits including pineapples, melon, oranges and watermelon and is topped with passion fruit sorbet. So refreshing!
Tiramisu Cake
Of course, we couldn’t just end with fruits. So we went a step further and indulged into this decadent tiramisu. Quite the classic, what stood out in this mascarpone layered dessert was the smooth coffee ice cream it was served with.
