Bombay To Mumbai Cafe | A culinary trip from the old to the new
What could be the possible link between the old and new names of the city? People? Quite. Buildings? Maybe. But food? Definitely. Bombay to Mumbai Café, located in Marco Polo Hotel Deira captures that very essence of old Bombay and New Mumbai, and serves up a creative mix of some of the best retro fusion and quintessentially local Bombay styled fare.
Read on to find out what we tried, and our favorites from the menu >
Drinks
We started with the Lemon Mint Muddle and Passion Fashion. While the former was a classic virgin mojito, the latter was a pretty looking, albeit a little too sweet mocktail
Pani Puri
We started off with chaat and loved the stylish version of this classic served with spicy water in a shot glass.
Dahi Papdi Chaat
This one was my favorite, simply because it was quite different from your regular papdi chaat. It came with shreds of carrot and beetroot along with classic yogurt flavors.
Mutton Kalonji Seekh
Absolutely velvety, these seekh kebabs literally melted in our mouth. They were exceptional, and my favorite of the lot. Also, they would make a great pair with tandoori bread. #RashidaRecommends
BMC Chicken Tikka
Basted in a classic tandoori marinade and grilled just right, these tikkas were yet another favorites on my list at Bombay to Mumbai Café. I have usually got this flavor from the bone-in pieces, but never expected the boneless ones to be this good too.
Paneer Tikka Nanakeesh
Simply put, the nanakeesh was the personification of spicy cubed paneer meets cheese manakeesh. Apart from being a delicious addition to our dinner table, we figured this would also make a nice breakfast accompaniment with tea.
BMC Cutting Chai
Talking about chai, being an ardent lover of chai, there was no way I could leave without trying this! The BMC cutting chai brought back fond memories of Bombay. Now if only I had some bun maska to go with it!
Chicken Kadhai Masala
This spicy and tender chicken gravy went just perfectly with their breads. I especially loved the mildly spicy flavor, although anything spicier would have been absolutely great too.
Matar Paneer
Matar Paneer is not usually a dish I would order at a restaurant, but the manner in which Bombay to Mumbai prepared it made all the difference. Honestly, this classic has never tasted better before. If you are a veggie, this is just right for you.
Mutton Dum Biryani
OMG, this was one of the very few very good biryanis I’ve had in D town. Highly recommended, this one from Bombay to Mumbai Cafe is a must have. This mutton biryani came back home with us and tasted brilliant even on the next day!

#RashidaReviews
Indulgence just got a whole new meaning. Bombay to Mumbai Cafe, quite hidden in terms of location, comes out unexpectedly remarkable. The food options, all of them, impress to a great extent. Highly recommend their biryani and seekh. And of course, cutting chai!
