Quick Lebanese in Jumeirah at Abu Jad
Who doesn’t love hot juicy chicken shawarma? I know I do. Which is one of the many reasons why Abu Jad made it to my list of must visit shawarma joints in Dubai.
Abu Jad is located on Jumeirah Beach Road in Umm Suqueim and offers a compact seating space along with views of a semi-open kitchen.
Shawarma
Fresh off the doner, the chicken & beef shawarma at Abu Jad packs in a punch in terms of flavor, texture and tenderness. It can be enjoyed as a platter or a wrap. The platter comes with garlic dip, ketchup, khubz and loads of fries.
Taboulet Abu
Fairly unique, the Taboulet Abu Jad is not your regular salad. Power packed with lentils and pomegranate seeds, it adds a zing to your palate.
Mana’eesh
Fancy a cheese mana’eesh as well as a lahmeh bajein, but don’t have the appetite for two? Combine them into one cheesy meaty mana’eesh and have it hot. The pie was definitely one of my favorites and I highly recommend it to anyone who loves mana’eesh.
Koshari
Off the menu, but definitely ontrend, the koshari was a welcoming surprise. Since Abu Jad is a Lebanese restaurant, I did not expect an Egyptian staple there, but when asked if I would like to try it, I was all smiles. Simple in style, but a bomb in terms of taste, the koshari has everything to turn your dinner into comfort food. Ask your server for this dish and don’t forget to load it up with lots of lemon juice and spicy sauce.
Chicken Liver
Another item not listed on their menu was the chicken liver platter. While I am not a big fan of the taste, my plus one loved it and was happy to pack it up for later too. If you’re a chicken liver fan, try it out. It sure looks tempting, doesn’t it?
Drinks
And if that’s not all, you can wash it all down with a glass of Laban Ayran or fresh orange juice. I prefer orange simply because I can’t gulp down salty laban based drinks, but should you like it, you certainly have the choice.
