Leisurely food & quick bites at Jones The Grocer
Located at the ground level, right next to the entrance to the hotel, Jones the Grocer offers a mix of casual dining with upbeat vibes. The interiors are reminiscent of a cosy fireplace lit inn serving the best selection of grapes and cheese, but with a touch of modernist sophistication. I can only imagine how beautiful this place would look during the day!
Their menu comprises of an extensive selection of breakfast dishes that are available until noon (one more reason to visit them at AM), followed by sandwiches and salads, and plentiful mains and desserts. Not to mention, a substantial assortment of coffee and juices. What I like the most about Jones, is that they offer a little bit of everything – from pasta or ciabatta, and even steak and burgers. Plus it is centrally located which makes it just right for a quick lunch or a relaxed dinner. Read on to find out what I recommend at Jones.
A quick look at Jones the Grocer in Dusit Thani Dubai
Spiced Lamb Flatbread
Since we wanted to try a little of everything from their menu, we chose this pulled lamb option from their sandwiches section. Reading its ingredients on the menu – hummus, baabab jam, Greek yogurt – I expected it to be quite creamy, but instead the sandwich was rather dry. The pulled lamb shreds were not too fresh and juicy as I would have preferred them to be. I am guessing when it comes to sandwiches, they are made in the first half of the day and simply reheated and served in the evenings.
Roast Pumpkin & Feta Salad
Contrary to the sandwich, the salad was quite fresh and wholesome too. We opted to add prawns to the salad and they went perfectly with the yuzu marinated pumpkin pieces, sundried tomatoes and rocket base. You can have this salad as is or even opt for grilled chicken or flaked salmon as an addition.
Truffle & Mushroom Risotto
This is one I highly recommended. If you read my posts regularly, you would have seen that I always love the combination of mushrooms and truffle. Both these ingredients possess a raw, earthy flavor that only gets better when they are used together in a dish. The creamy risotto rice makes a great choice of carb to balance out these two. And the parmesan garnish is a welcome addition.
While I tried it as is, you can choose to add chargrilled chicken breast to the risotto for some protein.
Grilled Spatchcock Corn-fed Chicken
Another impressive main, this baby chicken was luscious in its texture, with the marination juices of buttermilk and garlic oozing out in every bite. Served on a bed of quinoa with avocado, pomegranate and corn salad, this was one wholesome, and rather guilt-free dish. The spicy green chili and cilantro based Chimichurri sauce on the side added a nice spicy kick.
Jones Brownie
We visited Jones on 20th March, which also happens to be my late mom’s birth anniversary and just one day short of Mother’s Day. So it was only fair to dedicate this dessert to the most important lady in my life.
Garnished with chopped almonds and drizzled with chocolate sauce, the brownie was warm. The chilled vanilla ice cream, on the other hand, added a sweet harmony to the overall dessert.

#RashidaReviews
Jones The Grocer is great for quick bites, but in a quieter setting than a cafe. This licensed outlet also makes a fine choice for business meetings or a late night cap. It’s location is highly attractive, making sure it gets the most traction of guests inside Dusit as well as around SZR.
Highly recommend their truffle and mushroom risotto, burrata salad and grilled spatchcock chicken.
