Quick stop Shawarma joint – Ala Al Faham
Being in Dubai has its benefits. You always keep coming across new shawarma joints! One such place is Ala Al Faham.
After my ankle injury last weekend I found myself in dire need of some comforting soul food. And that brought me to this tiny joint located behind Damascus street in Qusais.
Quite compact in terms of its size, this place caters to a lot of takeaways and delivery orders. But since I really wanted to enjoy eating “out of home” I settled into one of their cosy seating tables and did my usual bit – ask for their specials.
My friend and I went with everything they recommended and quick meal at Ala Al Faham included a portion of Peri Peri Chicken Shawarma, a classic Chicken Burger, Orange Juice and Avocado Shake.
Fresh Orange juice & Avocado Shake
Both the drinks were made to order and I loved the sour flavour of freshly squeezed orange juice. The avocado shake on the other hand was quite a meal in itself loaded with avocado pieces and a drizzle of honey.
Peri Peri Chicken Shawarma
Loaded with spicy Peri Peri sauce and garlic paste the saj bread shawarma was stuffed with chicken pieces that were grilled just right. I would have liked it better has the pieces been slightly smaller because it was difficult to eat the entire piece in one go, and on the other hand biting it into half meant the sauce would be all over your hands and face.
Chicken Burger
Like any other store bought frozen burger, this one was done well. Plus it came with a generous portion of fries on the side. I didn’t like the thousand island dressing so much. It was quite bland compared to what you would usually expect in a burger and was missing a spicy kick.
Overall I would recommend their shawarma options since the chicken is absolutely wow, but ask them to wrap it up instead of cutting it into pieces.

Summary
A great option for a quick bite, the peeps at Ala Al Faham know their Shawarma really well. I would go back to try all their shawarma options and probably indulge in some grilled chicken too. For burgers though, I would stick to burger brands.
