Burgers with a personality – Blaze Burgers
Have you ever come across a caption that’s so perfectly on point? Blaze Burgers located at Jumeirah Beach Residence come across as quite the mod crowd. And they certainly live up to the experience they promise in terms of aesthetic appeal, interiors and service. But when it comes to burgers, well…
Read on to find out whether Blaze Burgers lives up to the hype?
Bringing in a breath of fresh air to the JBR dining scene with its urban industrial interiors and red-brown hues, Blaze Burgers does its impressive bit right.
Then comes the ordering process. Which in all means is just perfect. You choose a burger from their signature menu or simply build your own. We obviously did the latter.
Let me take you to the part I found most interesting – Condiment Shopping!
Well, it’s not really shopping per se, but once you have placed your order, you can walk over to the condiments and sauces station and fill your basket with the hot (or not) stuff you’d like to pair your meal with. And their selection doesn’t just end with salt, pepper, ketchup and Tabasco. These guys have got an extensive range of hot sauces, at least 3 different types of mustard and a couple of good ol’ steak sauces as well. However, it’s their spicy sauce rack that really takes the cake. From the humble pepper and garlic, to the bold habanero and hot ranch – it’s all in there!
Blaze Burgers claim to offer some of the best handcrafted burgers in town, right from Angus to Wagyu, grilled chicken (and Portobello for the veggies). Also, they are quite proud of their variety of toppings. And we couldn’t wait to see if all that was really up to the mark.
Drinks
The first to arrive at our table at Blaze Burgers were the drinks. We opted for two their famous mocktails: Blaze on the Beach and Nojito Cooler.
While the former was a creamy mix of peach, lime, cranberry and orange juices, the latter was a cucumber, lime and mint mojito.
I really liked the texture of the fruit mix. It was neither too thick nor to thin, and definitely not filling, which would otherwise totally ruin the burger wait. The mojito was perfect too, albeit slightly sweeter than I’d like. They have a few other options on their menu too. But if mocktails are not your thing, you can always opt for homemade iced teas, flavored soft drinks, fresh OJ, or even coffee options once the weather gets cooler.
Scoopers
No burger can be complete without some fries on the side. It is known. How many of you agree to that?
I really like it when restaurants get creative with their fries! Blaze Burgers offers not one, not two, but three different types of potatoes – you can have them as chips, fries or scoopers. And I am not even talking about their loaded options yet. While I was torn apart between ordering chips and scoopers, the latter seemed rather new, although just by name, since they were a slightly scoopy version of wedges. (Scoopy = something you can scoop up something else with).
We went for the cajun spiced scoopers along with a spicy-creamy Jalapeno Mayo Dip. If you are a dips person, you will love Blaze Burgers. When you order their potatoes, or onion rings – plain or cajun – you get one dip by default, but if you want to get a little variety, you can always add more to your list! They offer a selection of 8 different dips just to go with their fries – the likes of habanero mayo, nuclear mustard, awesomeness sauce and more.
Angry Fries
Now it’s time for the loaded ones. Blaze Burgers know how to do loaded carbs quite well. They have got freshly homemade fries to start off with. Then there’s the abundance of sauces and toppings to mix and match. And of course, the lovely skillet to finish off that bake (and make it absolutely Instagrammable).
While their options range from only cheese and jalapeno, to the ones loaded with beef bacon bits and even chili con carne, we went with their recommended Angry Fries that came topped with melted cheese, spicy sauce, jalapenos and roasted peppers.
Finger licking spicy, these fries were so filling, they could make for an entire meal by themselves. Well, they did. We wanted to save ourselves for the burgers, so while we scooped up all those scoopers, we got this one packed and trust me, after approximately 3 minutes in the microwave, they made for a fab lunch the next day!
The one thing I loved about these fries the most was how fresh their jalapenos were. Are you a fries person? Then give these, or any of their loaded fries a try, and you won’t regret it a bit.
Gourmet Wagyu Burger
Here’s the 1st customized burger we ordered at Blaze Burgers. While I was a little confused between choosing one or two 100g Angus patties for an Old School Burger, manager Karun recommended I try the Gourmet Wagyu burger which offered a 200g Australian Wagyu patty. And so did I.
For the topping, and for the love of everything spicy, I chose Jalapeno Fever. This came with a blend of jalapeno sauce, roasted peppers, mustard and Pepper Jack cheese. All this was stacked perfectly between a whole wheat bun.
The extremely juicy Wagyu patty, which we were told is made from selected cuts of beef, was cooked well done according to my preference, and exuded its premium taste from the very first bite. That, coupled with 1 of their 12 signature toppings made it absolutely irresistible. I loved how the meat mingled so well with the spicy jalapenos and the melted Pepper Jack.
Honestly, this burger is so huge, it would make good for an entire meal for one person, even without any sides. But if you really want to try out different things at Blaze Burgers (which you should), then make sure you ask some friends to tag along so you can order various burgers and sides from their menu and share the experience with everyone.
6abooga Sandwich Burger
The partly customized 2nd burger, umm sandwich, umm, whatever, was again one of their unique sellers. I am not really sure whether to call this a burger, or a sandwich, so I’ll just go ahead with that they call this deliciousness – a 6abooga. Don’t ask me how it’s pronounced, I might not be the right person to tell you that. But ask me about how it tastes, and I’ll fill you up with enough cravings to make you want to have this right away!
The original 6abooga, also known as the Brick Burger comes with two 100g Angus beef patties stacked between two grilled cheese sandwiches – that means two slices of cheesy bread on top, two beef patties in the center and two slices of cheesy bread at the bottom!! We decided to explore the poultry side for this one, and chose the (healthier) 170g Grilled Chicken as the meat.
The staff member at the till recommended we try their Awesomeness Blaze topping with the 6abooga. This one brought together the burger classics – lettuce, tomatoes, onions and pickles – with a very special homemade Awesomeness sauce and American cheese of course! This cheesy fleezy sandwich was the bomb. Just pulling apart the slices to bring out those strings of melted cheese made it look super appealing. And that juicy tender chicken was simply perfect in balancing all the cheese indulgence with it’s grilled low-fat bite. This is what I love about Blaze Burgers – you can build up whatever burger or sandwich you want, the way you want. It’s the perfect life.

Gooey Skillet Chocolate Cake
Don’t ask me how we managed to even think of this dessert after all those meaty burgers. But to be honest, just that name on the menu – Gooey Skillet Chocolate Cake – was so appealing, I couldn’t help but walk up to the till and order a portion for the two of us. Even as this dessert arrived at the table, I had to stop myself from indulging straight away, just so I could snap a couple of shots.
Served along with hot chocolate fudge, white chocolate sauce, and some chocolate chips & M&Ms, this dessert is truly divine. Covered with a chocolatey layer and topped with some wonderful pecans, it hides a fluffy, light textured cake beneath. It’s actually so weightless, even though we initially decided to have a couple of spoons and pack the rest, we ended up eating almost half of it. This one is highly recommended. In fact, everything at Blaze Burgers is.
If you’re on a diet, this is where you should head to on your cheat day. And if you’re not, then just go there already!
