Sumptuous delivery just in time from The Spice Trail
Weeknight dinners are always a challenge, especially on Sunday nights (Sunday being the first day of the week in this part of the world). Which is why last Sunday we decided to go all out and got a sumptuous four course meal delivered from The Spice Trail.
Located in Dubai Silicon Oasis, these guys do Indian food so well, you’ll end up licking your fingers after every course, wishing you could have had a little more of that. And since I’m working hard on stepping out of the paranoia that’s associated with getting food delivered, this was a really pleasant surprise.
The food came in perfect condition, packed in proper containers, with garnishes and all, and the most important part – it was hot! (Except for what need not be hot of course).
So here’s my two cents on everything we ordered from The Spice Trail.
Paneer Achari Tikka
I have never enjoyed Paneer tikka so much before. These were perfectly grilled and served with charred onions and peppers. My favorite!
Chicken Malai Tikka
Creamy and tender with the perfect marinade. However the pieces could have been slightly smaller, bite sized.
Both these starters came with a crunchy salad and green chutney.
Chana Masala
The chickpeas were very soft. Often I’m afraid they would be under-cooked, but not this one. The dish was slightly sweet though. Would have liked it spicy.
Chicken Tikka Lababdar
This was so good, I kept eating it for almost 3 days. The gravy was spicy and the chicken well cooked to the center.
Had these gravies with Lachcha Paratha. And if you are to believe me, you should definitely order this with the gravies.
Qeema Naan
Being totally stuffed with everything else, I had this one for breakfast next morning. Just a little warming up on the pan, and it made the perfect accompaniment to my tea.
Chicken Biryani
If you know me by now, I love chicken biryani. And this was great. Except it tasted more like a chicken pulav. Nevertheless, if you’re okay with a cross between biryani and pulav, this will be good.
Gajar Halwa
Yes! This is one sweet ending I can never say no to. Beautifully garnished with nuts, this halwa was quite fresh.
