Indian or Chinese? It doesn’t matter at Real Momos
In a city like Dubai, where you will find a different restaurant on every corner, and a different cuisine in every restaurant, it becomes quite difficult to pick out the few gems. But then, the more places we visit, the more we realise how lucky we are to be living in such a diverse city with so many options at bay. One such diverse area is Karama, and one such gem in this locality is Real Momos.
This very humble Karama eatery might be small in size but offers a whole bunch of Indian Chinese delicacies, with fusion momos being their speciality. They are big on take-aways, delivery and even catering, which makes them quite famous in and around the locality. Moreover, you can find Real Momos on Spoonfed Dubai, so even if you stay in New Dubai areas, you can get your share of momos goodness delivered straight to your home.
Chinese Bhel
Ever heard of Chinese Bhel? Yeah I was surprised at this too.
A major street favorite in small and big Indian cities, this fusion snack combines the best of both Chinese and chaat. With some crunchy noodles that taste almost like sev, some fried onions that add a stir fry appeal and some lip smacking spices and masalas, this is one dish that shouldn’t be missed at Real Momos.
Mixed Chicken Momos
You cannot go to a restaurant that specializes in momos and not have momos. No, that’s not done. So obviously, we decided to go all out and try as many flavors as possible. The hospitality at Real Momos is really humble, and they graciously got us a platter of mixed chicken momos so we could go back knowing exactly what to recommend and what to order the next time around.
Well, I think we failed at choosing the best, simply because they were all so good. If I had to, I would choose the exact same thing again without any bias to one single flavor.
But wait, its not just the flavors that are varied, its even their method of making the momos that offers a choice. You get to choose between the classic steamed or fried, or the more Indianized tandoori style. We got all three, of course.
From left bottom to top right: Afghani tandoori chicken, plain steamed chicken, Achari tandoori chicken, Hariyali chicken and Fried chicken momos in Schewan sauce.
Yes, they were all amazing. Each one of them. Even the plain steamed ones. These were actually as perfect as momos can get. The tandoori Indian flavored ones had all the right sauces, all perfectly spiced. But what caught my attention the most were the fried momos coated with Schezwan sauce. These were almost like eating a Manchurian gravy, except it was momos.
Such a burst of different fusion flavors, no?
They also have all these flavors in Vegetarian options, so if you’re not a meat eater, there’s absolutely no reason to despair.
Have you tried momos at Real Momos yet? Please do. You will love them. Also let me know which ones are your favorites (I am sure you will end up crushing on more than one).
Dilli Wali Chowmein
Dilli Wali girlfriend… Uh-uh! This is Dilli Wali Chowmein.
A slightly spicier version of the classic Chinese Hakka noodles, this speciality is designed to cater to spice loving Indian tastebuds. Of course, you don’t need to be Indian to order this. But you definitely need to have a knack to consume everything spicy. So we opted for the chicken chowmein which came with perfectly tender chicken pieces.
After trying out all the Indian Chinese dishes at Real Momos, my love for this fusion food has grown by leaps and bounds. I’m totally ordering from this place over the weekend. And thanks to the Spoonfed Dubai app, I can get food from this Karama restaurant delivered to my outer Dubai residence, without any minimum order requirements.
If you haven’t tried Real Momos yet, make some space in your schedule and give them a try.
Masala Thumbs Up and Masala Limca
Have you tried Thumbs Up and Limca? How many of you are fans of these quintessentially Indian colas?
While Thumbs Up is quite a common sight in UAE supermarkets, Limca is fairly less known in this region. Also, I guess it is probably only sold at traditional Indian supermarkets. Even if you haven’t come across these yet, you should definitely try the Masala Thumbs Up and Masala Limca at Real Momos. Perfect summer refreshers, these strong fizzy drinks come with a dash of chaat masala and spices. And these give their otherwise cola and lemon flavors a lip smacking twist.
Which one would you have? Thumbs Up or Limca or both?
My favorite was Thumbs Up 👍🏻
