Firing it up perfectly at Sahara Grill
Last night’s Iftar was at the upscale Sahara Grill located at The Mall. The first thing you notice as soon as you enter this place, is how big and bright it is. With a complete glass façade that offers breath-taking views of Jumeirah Beach Hotel as well as the Burj Al Arab, it made a great choice for Iftar, and would definitely prove amazing for lunch post Ramadan. Whether it’s a business casual dining, or a romantic one, Sahara Grill really fits the bill.
Let’s talk about the Iftar menu. Their set menu, priced at AED 120, makes sure you eat to your fill. It is quite a carnivorous one though, bringing across meaty flavors of the Sahara. Don’t worry, for you won’t be presented with an exotic venison or bison steak. The meats are quite humble, yet pack a spicy punch that will linger on your lips for hours after your dinner.
Soup
We started off with a sweet trio of dates and a glass of water to break the fast, and then cooled off with a fresh mixed fruit salad. This was followed by a soothing bowl of warm lentil soup that possessed a creamy cheesy texture and was paired up with nacho strips and lime for a little crunch and tang.
Starters
These were the best lamb chops ever. Really! Sahara Grill got us these starters which featured the Sahara Lamb Chops and Buffalo Chicken Wings.
The utterly juicy and tender chops come from New Zealand meat basted in signature Sahara Grill spices and flame grilled to a well done perfection. The spicy wings bring absolutely delectable chicken meat coated in hot and tangy Buffalo sauce.
Served alongside sour cream and chives, these spicy appetizers on their Iftar menu were enough to get the heat started.
Flame grilled chicken
What’s better than flame grilled chicken? Flame grilled chicken served with rice, fries, veggies and coleslaw. That’s way more better.
Not saying that the chicken wasn’t good by itself, but this delicious main course platter at Sahara Grill simply took the cake.
I’m glad they didn’t have a buffet or self serve, or I’m sure all the chicken would have been eaten way before, had we continued to dine at the leisurely and relaxed pace that the restaurant very humbly offers.
This platter comes with a side dip of tomato salsa (that pairs so beautifully with the rice), and mayo for those fleshy crisp steak cut fries. Plus they have the most creamiest coleslaw ever. And that fresh summer veggie salad balances the dish with something healthier. This one should be on every chicken lover’s list. I’m just checking mine off right now!
Coffee and Cake
Coffee and cake. Nothing beats this combination right? Sahara Grill just takes it a step further with this scrumptious Tiramisu and Illy Coffee.
While their Latte was as good as you can ask for, they also offer Karak Chai which is just perfect for post Iftar tea cravings.
And that Tiramisu is super soft, perfectly soaked in espresso and soothingly sweet.
Meat-arian, carnivore, or whatever nickname you might have earned, you have got to add Sahara Grill to your must visit list.
