Délifrance Boulangerie & Bistro in the heart of Dubai Mall

When it comes to food, Dubai Mall definitely spoils you for choice. And it’s fair for a mall of that caliber to do so. Featuring the best of all cuisines around the world across every dining concept – fine dining, cafés, food court, kiosks, etc. there is nothing that you would not find in Dubai Mall. This also means that it would be quite a decision making task when you’re looking for eating out in the mall. Last evening we decided to walk in to the first restaurant/café/kiosk we see and we stumbled across the lovely Délifrance Boulangerie & Bistro. Needless to say, it was a decision we don’t regret a bit.

Located right in front of the Dubai Mall Waterfall, this quiet café has a beautiful seating area that makes it the perfect place to sit down and relax over a cup of latte and a sweet or savory pastry, while listening to the tunes of water splashing down the fall.

Their menu features an extensive selection of breakfast items, sandwiches, hot dishes, salads, French delights, breads, Viennoiseries, soups, hot & cold drinks and desserts.

Spritz Passion & Paris Je T’aime

It has been really long since I had a mocktail as refreshing as this. They might look similar, but one’s with passion and one’s with peach. Spritz Passion on the left comes with passion fruit infused de Monin syrup, Monin bitter syrup, sparkling water and orange slices. Paris Je T’aime on the right Peach Monin syrup, followed by soda water, Scavi sparkling bubbles and orange & strawberry slices.
Both these drinks at Délifrance Boulangerie & Bistro were as cooling and soothing as the sound of the waterfall in the backdrop. It would make a great relief for tired shoppers looking for some respite.

Grilled Chicken & Mixed Vegetables

I can’t possibly express how comforting it is to bite into this ciabatta bread layered with tender grilled chicken and sauteed mixed veggies. To add to all that comfort, was crumbled feta cheese and creamy mayonnaise that brought about a smoothness to this sandwich.

I know this might sound a little over the top for a sandwich, but having this served to you after a tired day, is sort of magical.
Look at how the salad is neatly placed in a scooped purple cabbage leaf.

Vegetable Lasagna

Keeping things a little different, we decided to try out the vegetable lasagna at Délifrance Boulangerie & Bistro instead of beef. While I was expecting it to be piping hot, it was quite cold. It felt like it had just been removed from a cold pack onto the plate. I’m not sure if this is how it was supposed to be, because I definitely like my lasagna hot. But if you order this and like it warm, make sure you ask them to heat it up.

And you should order this, because despite the temperature, the lasagna was really comforting and very wholesome. It came with tender cooked vegetables layered between lasagna sheets and topped with lots of cheese. The cold nature of the dish definitely did not make it taste stale, which was quite surprising. It was easy to cut and eat.
The lasagna was also served with a fresh side salad. So pretty! The only thing I could not figure out was why they were serving an Italian favorite in a French bistro!
You could also try the beef lasagna which is one of their best sellers.

Mediterranean Styled Puff Pastry

While all these dishes were prepared to order, we were quite intrigued by one quiche we eyed in the counters at Délifrance. So we decided we should try that out too. Crispy and flaky on the outside, this Mediterranean styled puff pastry came with a mushy blend of veggies and herbs inside. And it was accented with some really good cheese which made it a nice accompaniment to a coffee.

Chocolate Fondant with Vanilla Ice Cream

We eventually decided to give it to our cravings by trying out something really sweet. This is the pretty looking chocolate fondant with ice cream at Délifrance Boulangerie & Bistro.

The warm fondant cake and cool vanilla ice cream are a treat in themselves. But what really fascinated me about this dessert is the chocolate strawberry marble syrup designed so intricately for the presentation.

 

It would be nicer if that was carved out in a heart or circle shape. But when it comes to taste, it’s simply indulgent.

Cafe Latte

There’s nothing like a good coffee to end a French meal, and this Cafe Latte was on point. Look at that beautiful design.
