Colorful Cali on a Pizza at Z Pizza
When was the last time I had pizza? 1 – 2 – 3 months back? Wow! I don’t even remember. And not having pizzas for that long is definitely NOT healthy. So to satisfy these pizza cravings, I went off to Barsha at the very recently opened outlet of Z Pizza.
To start off with, I was amazed with their variety – from salads, sandwiches and shareable starters to a deliciously mouth-watering selection of meat, chicken and veggie pizzas, these guys have it all to combat even the most craziest of cravings.
How often have you doubted the freshness of items if there is too much of choice on the menu? No matter, because you won’t have to worry about that at Z Pizza. Everything they prepare – right from the garlic breads to the pizzas – it’s all done fresh, and you can even go and watch your pizza being topped and popped into the oven from the glass window view of their kitchen.
Hot off the oven, the garlic bread at Z Pizza is covered with a fragrant garlic butter sauce and baked to a crusty perfection. Try it to see how every bite mingles the delicious buttery garlicky flavors with a crunch. This portion of 4 pieces is served with a side marinara dip.
No pizza is complete without some pepperoni and the Z American pizza at Z Pizza flaunts it really well. Starting with an organic tomato sauce base and part-skim mozzarella cheese, both of which are their specialties, this pizza option comes topped with all your favorites – pepperoni, beef sausage, Roma tomatoes, mushrooms, bell peppers and red onions.
I like my pizzas loaded with a mix of meat and veggies so I chose this one over the classic pepperoni. But if you are one of the die hard pepperoni fans, then go for their signature Pepperoni pizza. Also, my pizza was made of a wheat crust – the healthier option. And if you’re ordering a medium sized pizza, you can opt for a gluten free base as well!
If you are a beef lover and want more variations, you can also try the sweet and spicy Hawaiian pizza with Serrano chili and pineapple toppings or go all out with Carnivore that features a combination of pepperoni, ham, sausage and bacon.
No matter what you choose, you won’t be disappointed!
I am so glad pizza makers are breaking out of the traditional tomato base and adopting different ingredients and combinations to colour this deliciousness (or not). What I am referring to here is the Tuscan Mushroom Pizza at Z Pizza. One of their signatures, just one look at this option on the menu and I knew I had to have this.
I mean, who could possibly say no to a homemade roasted garlic sauce base on a wheat crust, followed with their very special part-skim mozzarella cheese and topped with cremini, shiitake and button mushrooms along with caramelized onions, feta cheese, truffle oil and fresh thyme. The roasted garlic is just heavenly.
Almost feels like you are walking through an aromatic herb garden, doesn’t it? If this has already tempted you enough, there’s no way you will be able to resist the actual thing served hot fire-baked off their oven.
Check out their signature Moroccan Pizza with basil pesto base along with eggplant, feta and pine nuts or the classic California Veggie Pizza with all the basics including an organic tomato sauce base and toppings like onions, peppers, mushrooms, olives and more!
It would be a shame to not have chicken as a topping on pizzas. But Z Pizza has plenty of it and in plenty of different styles.
The one in the picture is their signature ZBQ Chicken pizza which comes with bbq sauce base followed by their special part-skim mozzarella cheese and topped with the goodness of marinated chicken, roasted peppers, red onions, Roma tomatoes, corn and fresh cilantro.
I simply love how the chicken is cut into thin strips and covered in the bbq marinade. Makes the whole experience so much sweet and spicy.
If you’re the one for signatures, you can also try their Mexican pizza that starts with a base of homemade salsa and is topped with spicy lime chicken breast, avocado, sour cream and more!
This chicken pizza is a blessing. Really!
The Santa Fe at Z Pizza is by far one of my favorite pizzas in Dubai. Yes, in the whole of Dubai filled with all varieties of pizza in all flavors, shapes and sizes.
And the main reason for this being my favorite – the spicy chicken sausage!
While it starts with a Chipotle pesto base topped with their part-skim mozzarella, the red onions, corn, Roma tomatoes, fresh cilantro and especially Serrano chilies mingle so well with the chicken sausage, it creates a medley of tender, spicy, crunchy and sweet flavors in every bite.
If you love more off-the-book chicken pizzas, you could also opt for Buffalo Bleu which comes with a garlic sauce base topped with spiced chicken, gorgonzola cheese and green onions.
However I’ll just stick to a large Santa Fe pizza on my next visit
P.S. I’m not sharing
You can always try out more varieties by splitting your pizza in half-n-half. What’s really interesting is that Z Pizza offers you the option of creating your own pizza, with whatever ingredients you want. Next time I’m there I’m going to combine the roasted garlic base with spicy chicken sausage and some delicious peppers and mushrooms on a gluten free crust. And maybe go cheese free, you know!
The double chocolate fudge cake at Z Pizza gave a sweet ending to our California styled pizza experience. And that’s why I went for chocolate. For something more standard American, you can choose the New York cheesecake or go the classic Italian way with a Tiramisu.
This one though was extremely rich and chocolaty. However I would have liked it a little more scrumptious, more moist.
But next time, Tiramisu it is.
