From Sanjeev’s Kitchen to The Yellow Chilli
Nothing better to kick start an Indian meal than the famous Mumbai style masala cutting chai. Simply love the way The Yellow Chilli presents it in a classic tea holder. And the taste definitely takes you back to street side tea stalls in Mumbai. Located amidst the bustling Bur Juman mall, this gem by Sanjeev Kapoor offers an amazing variety of signature dishes from his collection as well as some favorite classics prepared with a twist.
Like every Indian restaurant, the papad basket at The Yellow Chilli by Sanjeev Kapoor is something to look forward to. A mix of different poppadums are served along with green mint chutney, sweet chutney and spicy pickle. The most creative part is that the chutneys and pickle are served in miniature kitchen set utensils. Papads are crispy and crunchy, highlighting their freshness.
Two of their signature mocktails, the Peru Pyala and Strawberry Mojito are must haves at The Yellow Chilli by Sanjeev Kapoor.
The former features a blend of guava juice with lemon and mint, and is served in a chilli rimmed glass for that spicy kick in every sip. The latter combines fresh muddled strawberries topped with soda and garnished with mint – perfectly refreshing.
The perfect way to sample the best in grills, this mixed platter specially brought together for us featured the most signature kebabs and tikkas at The Yellow Chilli by Sanjeev Kapoor.
From right to left:
Tandoori Basil prawns cooked with aromatic basil, mint and cream yogurt offering the perfect crunch with a tender inside.
Melt in your mouth Kali Mirch Methi Fish Tikka with crushed black pepper and crackling spinach.
Classic minced mutton pudina seekh offering a tender minty taste.
Chandi Kaliyan featuring tender chicken tikkas flavored with cheese and lemon butter.
Murgh Angar Bedgi giving off a hot and spicy finish.
Highly recommend the fenugreek fish tikkas and basil prawns.
You cannot go to The Yellow Chilli by Sanjeev Kapoor and not have the Pyaaz Mirch ki Roti. We tried this and the Lasooni naan which were both good as is or as an accompaniment with curries.
Definitely try out the Pyaaz Mirch ki Roti. And have it hot.
As delicious in taste as it is in looks, the super spicy Murgh Survedaar and signature Nalli Rogan Josh are perfect main course choices for the lasooni naam at the Yellow Chilli by Sanjeev Kapoor. Served in copper-esque utensil style containers, the chicken curry is cooked with black pepper and coriander, while the mutton classic features meat shanks in a rich Kashmir styled gravy.
Highly recommend the Rogan Josh, especially if you are a fan of mutton.
The sweet finish to a delicious meal made with recipes from the Master Chef Sanjeev Kapoor’s kitchen, this twist to the classic dessert is definitely worth all the praise.
Adding gulab to the gulab jamun, the Gulab e Gulkand features warm soft jamuns stuffed with candied rose petals, more commonly known as Gulkand.
Now I’m not a fan of gulab jamuns, but I liked the pan flavored stuffing. But if you’re a fan of gulab jamuns, then this is for you.
