Breakfast in Turkey
I have to say, the best part of visiting Istanbul is early December was experiencing the chilly climate, especially for someone like me, who has spent almost all her life in Dubai. But the second best thing was undoubtedly the breakfast at Hotel Divas. That’s where we were staying during our trip, and I must admit that was one of the best reasons to wake up early in the morning despite the cold.
Now I generally have pretty strong feelings towards breakfast. Especially buffet breakfasts. They have this wholesome image in my mind, where they are made up of all the good things one needs in their system – carbs, proteins, vitamins, fiber, everything.
Spread out in a neat and organized fashion, it couldn’t really get any better than this. We started off by slicing some freshly baked baguette. Crunchy and warm, they were arranged in a basket alongside a wooden chopping board with a bread knife.
After that we moved on to picking some pickled olives, spicy boiled potatoes and boiled eggs. I simply loved the selection of cheese – herb, string, feta and plain old cheddar. They also had crackers to accompany the cheese. Along with its plain variation, the berry flavored yogurt was quite interesting. I also picked up salami and some freshly chopped veggies including peppers, tomatoes and cucumbers.
The main dishes had fresh cooked scrambled eggs and chicken sausages. The crispy potato wedges were the highlight! I could just not get enough of these.
Moving to the sweeter section, the breakfast spread included a selection of two fruit flavored jams, marmalade and honey. The desserts ranged from yellow sponge cake, profiteroles, pastries and chocolate cake; all equally delicious.
Apart from this they also had a tall container of cornflakes and fresh orange juice. The hot beverages included a choice between tea, coffee and hot chocolate.
As a forever fan of breakfasts, I simply love the variety they offer and this one scored 10 on all levels.
